Cymbal Tingsha Dragon Design

These are a wonderful set of hand cast and hand tuned cymbals called “Ting-sha”. In the Buddhist religion these are used as part of the celestial orchestra. They are played by the goddesses of music, dance and song. The casting process is ancient and is passed from one generation to the next. These are cast in sand and then skillfully tuned by the master artisan. The hand tuning process is an art in itself. This pair of cymbals have been tuned together to ensure an even and beautiful shimmering tone. The traditional way to play the cymbals is to hold one while slowly whirling the other to gently strike the first. The tone is used to bring one’s attention to the present and focus the mind. The sound is thought to be spiritually cleansing. These cymbals can be used in combination with singing bowls as part of a meditative process. We obtained these new cymbals from a Tibetan Buddhist community in Nepal. We select all items directly and import them after ensuring the best quality. We utilize fair trade practices. These measure approximately 2.5” in diameter with an 8 inch leather strap.
